{"id":978,"date":"2018-09-07T10:29:08","date_gmt":"2018-09-07T03:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/psp.fpik.ipb.ac.id\/?p=978"},"modified":"2018-09-07T11:07:58","modified_gmt":"2018-09-07T04:07:58","slug":"summer-cruise-di-atas-tv-shinyo-maru-tumsat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/psp.ipb.ac.id\/index.php\/2018\/09\/07\/summer-cruise-di-atas-tv-shinyo-maru-tumsat\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Cruise on-board T\/V Shinyo Maru, TUMSAT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Guest researchers from IPB attended the on board summer cruise with T\/V Sinyo Maru in Japanese waters.<\/p>\n<p>A Lecturer from the Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Bogor Agricultural University, has attended the T\/V Shinyo Maru summer cruise owned by Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT). Dr.Budy Wiryawan as guest researcher was invited by Prof. Dr. Jota Kanda, Dean of the Faculty of TUMSAT,\u00a0 to learn the techniques of sampling and analysis of marine macros and micro plastics, in addition to conveying lessons about marine plastic debris research in Indonesia. His interest \u00a0is in exploring research methodologies relating to fishing gear discarded in the sea in relation to the marine environment. Research topics on &#8220;Discarded, Abandoned Fishing Gear and Ghost Fishing&#8221; are becoming important issues in the world of capture fisheries. In Japan, this research is a marine debris research in the framework of a national program in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>The 2018 voyage was carried out with the Shinyo Maru Training Ship which was only 2 years old (GT: 1343; LOAxB: 64 mx 12m) lead by Captain Toshifumi Mayashi san. The guest research team from Indonesia and 2 researchers from SEAFDEC Thailand accompanied by the Program Coordinator ( Associate Professor Keiichi Uchida, Ph.D) departed on August 22, 2018 from Komatsushe Port, then moved to take refuge from the upcoming Typhoon on August 24, 2018 to Wakayama on Osaka Bay which was relatively calm. Even so, the ship that was legging anchored, still hit by the wind with a speed of between 50-70 knots, so that the position of the ship had shifted.<\/p>\n<p>Macro plastics sampling was carried out with a visual observation method, which was carried out from the ship with binocular equipment (binoculars), an arc for estimating object and tab distances with an Android-based marine debris protocol application. While micro plastics sampling, as well as fish larvae, carried out with neuston net with frame dimensions of 75&#215;75 cm, equipped with flowmeter, 300 micron meter mesh size and a cod-end in the form of a cylindrical tube with diameter of 12 cm. Towing of neuston net is carried out at a constant speed of 2-3 knots for 20-30 minutes for every sampling. The Visual Observation and Neuston net sampling locations were carried out in Osaka Bay, Bingonada Sea and Hiuchinada Sea. The cruise ends on 29 August 2018 at the port of Shimonoseki City. On this occasion, the bottom sediment survey was not conducted by using bottom trawling, because cruise was carried out in the inland sea with high sea traffic. However, sampling techniques and demonstrations of bottom trawling operations are explained in the lecture hall on board by the Captain. In addition, discussions about data processing and analysis and estimation of micro plastics density per unit area are explained by Dr.Uchida san.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, micro plastics analysis techniques were carried out in a micro plastic laboratory at Kyushu University led by Professor Atsuhiko Isobe. Water samples containing marine debris and marine biota \/ fish larvae are taken to the laboratory for separation of sample contents. A small plastic fragment was then observed using a monitor display via a USB camera attached to a stereo microscope, and identified using the Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectrophotometer (FT-IR alpha). The results of the analysis can provide information on the types of micro plastics materials, such as polyethylene, polystyrene, polyvinylchloride, or other polymers, which will indicating the origin of plastic waste.<\/p>\n<p>The on-board summer cruise training will be continued in 2019, after the first activity was followed by Dr. Mochamad Riyanto from IPB in the framework of cooperation between IPB-TUMSAT. It is expected that from this activity the spirit of researchs on marine plastic debris will be developed by using valid scientific methods, which in turn will increase public and government concerns about the dangers of marine debris in Indonesian waters.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #003366;\"><strong>Summer Cruise di atas T\/V Shinyo Maru, TUMSAT<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Peneliti tamu dari IPB mengikuti <em>on-board summer cruise<\/em> dengan T\/V Sinyo Maru di Laut Pedalaman Jepang pada tanggal 22 Agustus \u2013 2 September 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Seorang staf pengajar dari Departemen Pemanfaatan Sumberdaya Perikanan, Fakultas Perikanan dan Ilmu Kelautan, Institut Pertanian Bogor, telah mengikuti summer cruise Training Vessel Shinyo Maru milik Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT) Dr. Budy Wiryawan atas undangan Prof. Dr. Jota Kanda (Faculty Dean) sebagai Guest Researcher oleh TUMSAT untuk mempelajari teknik sampling dan analisis <em>marine macro<\/em> dan <em>micro plastic<\/em>, selain juga menyampaikan pembelajaran tentang riset <em>marine plastic debris<\/em> di Indonesia. Ketertarikan dia untuk mendalami metodologi penelitian yang berkaitan dengan alat tangkap ikan yang terbuang di laut kaitannya dengan lingkungan perairan. Topik penelitian tentang \u2018<em>Discarded, Abandoned Fishing Gear <\/em>dan<em> Ghost Fishing<\/em>\u2019 sedang menjadi isu penting di dunia perikanan tangkap. Di jepang, penelitian ini merupakan penelitian <em>marine debris<\/em> (sampah laut) dalam kerangka program nasional Jepang.<\/p>\n<p>Pelayaran tahun 2018 dilaksanakan dengan Training Vessel Shinyo Maru yang baru berumur 2 tahun (GT : 1343; LOAxB : 64m x 12m) dengan Captain Toshifumi Mayashi san.\u00a0 Tim peneliti tamu dari Indonesia dan 2 peneliti dari SEAFDEC Thailand yang didampingi oleh Koordinator Program (Dr. Keiichi Uchida) berangkat pada tanggal 22 Agustus 2018 dari Pelabuhan Komatsushe, kemudian pindah untuk berlindung dari Typhoon yang akan datang tanggal 24 Agustus 2018 malam ke Wakayama di Teluk Osaka yang relatif lebih tenang. Walaupun demikian kapal yang sedang lego jangkar, tetap dihantam angin dengan kecepatan antara 50-70 knot, sehingga posisi kapal pun sempat bergeser.<\/p>\n<p>Sampling <em>macro plastics<\/em> dilaksanakan dengan <em>visual observation method<\/em>, yang dilakukan dari atas kapal dengan peralatan binokuler (teropong), busur untuk estimasi jarak obyek dan tablet dengan aplikasi <em>marine debris protocol<\/em> berbasis android. Sedang sampling <em>micro plastics<\/em>, juga larva ikan, dilakukan dengan neuston net yang berdimensi <em>frame<\/em> (75 x 75 cm) dilengkapi dengan <em>flowmeter<\/em>, <em>mesh size<\/em> 300 micron meter dengan <em>cod-end<\/em> berupa tabung silinder berdiameter 12 cm. Penarikan jaring <em>micro plastics<\/em> dilakukan dengan kecepatan konstan antara 2-3 knot selama 20-30 menit. Lokasi Observasi Visual dan Neuston net sampling dilakukan di Teluk Osaka, Laut Bingonada dan Laut Hiuchinada. Pelayaran diakhiri pada tanggal 29 Agustus 2018 di Pelabuhan Shimonoseki. Pada kesempatan\u00a0 pelayaran kali ini tidak dilakukan survei <em>bottom sediment<\/em> dengan menggunakan <em>bottom trawl<\/em>, dikarenakan pelayaran dilakukan di laut pedalaman. Namun teknik sampling dan demo pengoperasian <em>bottom trawl<\/em> di jelaskan di dalam ruang kuliah di atas kapal oleh Kapten Kapal. Selain juga, diskusi tentang pengolahan dan analisis data serta estimasi densitas <em>microplastics<\/em> per unit area dijelaskan oleh Dr. Uchida san.<\/p>\n<p>Selanjutnya, teknik analisis <em>micro plastics<\/em> dilakukan di micro plastic laboratorium di Universitas Kyushu yang dipimpin oleh Prof. Atsuhiko Isobe. Contoh air yang mengandung\u00a0<em>marine debris<\/em> dan biota laut\/larva ikan dibawa ke laboratorium untuk diadakan pemisahan isi sampel. <em>Fragmen plastic<\/em> yang kecil kemudian diobservasi dengan menggunakan sebuah <em>monitor display<\/em> <em>via<\/em> sebuah <em>USB Camera<\/em> yang menempel pada sebuah <em>stereo microscope<\/em>, dan diidentifikasi dengan menggunakan <em>Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectrophotometer<\/em> (FT-IR alpha). Hasil dari analisis dapat memberikan informasi jenis-jenis bahan <em>microplastics<\/em>, seperti <em>polyethylene<\/em>, <em>polystyrene<\/em>, <em>polyvinylchloride<\/em>, atau polimer lainnya.<\/p>\n<p>Kegiatan <em>on-board summer cruise training<\/em> akan dilanjutkan tahun 2019, setelah kegiatan pertama diikuti oleh Dr. Mochamad Riyanto dari IPB dalam kerangka kerjasama IPB-TUMSAT.
